On November 17, 2012, DBGM, Inc. premiered YANA - The Film at the famed Audubon Ballroom, where Malcolm X was assassinated.

The film featured interviews with Black gay men, clinicians, and community leaders, along with reenactments that broke the silence surrounding factors contributing to mental health destabilization, depression, and suicidal ideations (thoughts).

The film raised issues including denial and family rejection on the grounds of sexual orientation, contracting HIV, bullying and cyber bullying, condemnation by religious leaders, sexual abuse, and growing old as a Black gay man with unresolved issues.

For the documentary’s 10th anniversary, we will gather to celebrate this achievement. The program is being planned by the interviewees and the actors. It will feature a panel discussion on updating issues raised in the film. We will also discover where panelists are in their lives, and what they envision for the future for Black gay men.
